Is it possible to completely walk in someone else's shoes?

I would have to say it's not completely possible to do, but in some sort mind you can. If I stayed at a friends house for week I would probably understand why they are the way they are. But I won't understand everything that goes on in my friends life, because somethings are just not to know.
